Captain's Wafers

Seasons Greetings all. There is enough Holiday out there right now to choke a reindeer, so I won't waste much time on it. But, one question I do have. If the holidays aren't meant to be stressful, then how do you explain the tradition of wrapping gifts? Sure, it always starts fun (well, not really for me), but by the end of it, I have dropped enough 'F' bombs to ensure a visit from Krampus instead of Santa Claus. Anyway, on to the trash. I was going to build a Christmas tree from the trash I collected, but I received a lot of worried looks from those close to me, which is the usual signal I take to mean I'm about to go too far.

Years ago, in a sailing vessel on the open seas, there wasn't many amenities to be had. And those that were available were reserved for the Captain himself. Cream cheese and chives on crackers were a special treat, with the poor crew getting but a wiff of this crunchy and creamy bounty of the, er, sea. Today that sea faring tradition has returned, but in pre-packaged and highly processed form, and available to all for a few schillings. We are spoiled this modern day my friends.

898 to go...

Merry Krampus to all!!
